How to crochet the watermelon coaster
So here is the written pattern for the watermelon coaster, before you start, you need to decide how big you want the coaster or mat to be, for that you need to choose the yarn thickness and the hook size.
As I have discussed it before, you can choose a hook size larger than the one recommended for any yarn you are using, that will help making your project light in weight and bigger.

WRITTEN PATTERN
With red color, Ch2.
Row 1 : 5 dc inside the second ch from the hook.
Row 2 : ch2, 1dc in the same st, 2 dc in every st.
Row 3 : ch2, 1dc in the same st, 1 dc in the next st, 2dc in the next st, alternate.
Row 4 : with white color, join with a slip st in the beginning row, ch2, 1hdc in the same joining st, 1hdc in the next 2 st, 2hdc in the next st, repeat.
Row 5 : With green color, join, ch2, 1dc in the joining st, 1 dc in the next 3 st, 2dc in the next st, repeat.
