crochet a square basket half double crochet
So after the round basket I'm. Back now with a square basket with handles.
Many of us like when we can make useful stuff especially for home, me included and it's such a joy to look at it every time and think I did it 😂
This one was requested by my mum to use it for her laundry pins but after she saw the finished look she decided to use it for her socks, lol.
Anyway, this is not a perfect rigid basket like the ones you find in the market but one which is relaxed and still beautiful.
It is very easy to do, I've included the written pattern as well, you just need to do one tall piece in the beginning and then do the sides, check the video for more clarity, the handles also are very simple made of chain and slip stitch.
I hope you like the pattern and tutorial and you can make your own as well.
With 2 strands of yarn ch 28.
ROW 1 : hdc in the 3rd ch from the hook, hdc in every ch.
ROW 2 : ch2, hdc in the 1st st, hdc in every st
ROW 3 to 45: repeat row 2
From the first row, count 15 rows, place a st marker on each side, count 15 rows from the st marker and place another 2 st markers.
The 15 rows between both st markers is where you are going to work your next squares.
insert your hook in any st marker side with 2 strands of yarn on your hook, ch 2, 2 hdc in each ch2 spaces ( you should get 25 hdc).
Ch2, hdc in the first st and every st throughout.
repeat for total of 15 rows.
Repeat the same on the other side.
STITCHING THE SIDES TOGETHER:
Holding the sides together, make a slip knot ( follow the video) ch 1, single crochet in every ch/st.
Repeat for all sides.
MAKING THE HANDLES:
With two strands, make a slip knot, insert the hook in the beginning of any side, ch 27, join to the end side, sl st back and fasten off.
Repeat for the opposite side.
