Cross stitch granny square crochet pattern

Materials 

Medium worsted yarn (4) 

5.5 mm crochet hook

 Measurements 

22/22 cm 

Gauge

 10 cm: 5 rows/squares. 8 cross sts.

Abbreviations 

Ch: chain

 St: stitch

 Dc: double crochet 

Sp: space 

Cross stitch: whether in the ch2 space or the initial ring: work 2 dc, yarn over, come back before the 1st dc from the front, insert the hook in the ring/ space from the back side, work the dc. 

Written Pattern: 

Ch4, join to form a ring

 Row 1: ch3, dc in the ring, yarn over, dc in the front of both the ch3 and dc, from the back of the ring. *Ch2, 2 dc in the ring, yarn over, pass the hook in the front of both dc, working the 3 rd dc in the back of the ring, Ch2** Repeat from * to **, 2 more times, join to the initial ch3. 

Row 2: sl st in the next st and in the ch 2 sp, ch3, *(Cross st, ch2 cross st)** all in the ch2 sp, repeat * in all sps, join to the initial ch3. 

Row 3: in the 1st sp ( small space). Ch3, dc, dc crossed (cross st). *In the ch2 sp ( cross st, ch2, cross st), in the next small sp, 1 cross st**. Repeat from * to ** till the end of the row,join to the top of ch 3, with a sl st. 

Repeat row 3 till desired width of the granny square.
