V stitch granny square crochet pattern





This granny square is an easier version of the classic one as it uses the V stitch to make it look prettier and much faster to make, this is similar to the granny square as the V stitches are worked in every space between the v stitches and corners, the video tutorial is joined to help you with the pattern. 

Materials

 Medium worsted yarn, ex(red heart super saver)

 5 mm crochet hook Or

 any yarn of your choice with the recommended crochet hook on the label

 Measurements

 4 rows: 14/14 cm

 Gauge 

10 cm: 12sts/ 6rows 12 sts of single dc

Abbreviations

 Ch: chain St: stitch Dc: double crochet Sp: space Sps: spaces V stitch: dc, ch1, dc all in the chain 1 space 

Written pattern

 Ch 5

 Row 1: in the 5th ch from the hook, make a dc, ch2, ( dc, ch1, dc), ch2, ( dc, ch1, dc), ch2, ( dc, ch1, dc), ch2, join to the top of the initial ch. 

Row 2: sl st into the corner, ch3, *In the next corner (V stitch, ch2, V st)**. Repeat from * to ** till the end of the row. In the last corner, V st, ch2, dc, ch1, join to the initial ch3. 

Row 3: ch4, dc in the sp between the V sts. *in the corner ( V st, ch2, V st), in the next sp between the V sts, make a V st**. Repeat from * to ** till the end of the row. join with a sl st. 

Repeat row 3 till the required width of your project. 

The number of sps will increase in evey row/ round, where you will always make a V stitch and in the 4 corners, always V st, ch 2, V stitch.
