Basketweave stitch crochet pattern
The basketweave pattern is a repetition of two blocks throughout the work with 3 sets of opposite stitches which gives the look of the pattern. Worth every stitch.
Materials
Medium worsted yarn
Recommended
Abbreviations:
Chain: chain
St: stitch
Sl st: slip stitch
fpst: front post stitch: yarn over, insert the hook behind the next stitch and out the front side, work a double crochet.
bpstitch: back post stitch: yarn over insert the hook at the back of the stitch, pulling the previous st behind and work a double crochet.
Written Pattern:
ch any number
Row1: dc in the 3rd ch from the hook, 1 dc in every ch till the end of the row
Block 1
Row2: ch2, 1fpst in each one of the next 3 st, 1bpst in the next 3 st, Repeat ( 1fpst in the next 3 st, 1bpst in the next 3 st) till the end of the row.
Row 3: ch2, now what was fpst in the previous row, work 1 back post st in the next 3 st and what was previously bpst in the previous row work fpst.
Or of it's simpler this way: if you see fpst work fpst on top of them and the same for the bpst.
Row 2 and 3 are blocks of the first basket weave pattern
Block 2
Row4: ch2, now if you see a fpst, you now work 3 bpst and in the next bpst, you work 3 fpst till the end of the row.
Row 5: repeat Row 3.
Repeat the blocks alternating between block 1 and 2 until the end of your project
